A magistrate has slammed TV star Angie Kent for her driving record after the ex-Bachelorette pleaded guilty to a drink driving charge.

She fined the star $1200 and disqualified her from driving for four months, citing Kent’s record.

Kent, who has multiple driving offences including a previous drink driving charge in 2014, said she was “utterly embarrassed and apologetic” after blowing .081 when police pulled her over at a RBT stop earlier this month.

Magistrate Vivien Swain told Kent she couldn't grant her a shorter disqualification period because of her previous offences.

“It is littered with offences, including speeding offences and she has been issued with several demerit letters,” Ms Swain said.

“If you drive, it’s best not to drink at all. Ms Kent will understand it is not tolerated in our community and places people at risk.”

Dressed in a black cotton jumpsuit, black sandals, with her blonde hair cut shoulder length for her latest TV gig on Dancing With The Stars, Kent nodded briefly as she left court when asked if she was relieved the ordeal was over.

The court heard that Kent had set out on a picnic on one of the first days vaccinated people could visit friends and had “two drinks” before deciding to drive.

The 31-year-old had earlier carried a tan handbag and denim jacket into the courtroom and sat quietly, pulling down her mask to sip occasionally from a bottle of sparkling water.

She then stood as her lawyer enter a guilty plea on her behalf and stood again as Magistrate Swain convicted and sentenced her.

Lawyer Justin Wong said Kent, who has been seeing a therapist since 2000, was “determined to make sure it never happened again”.

She has a previous drink driving conviction in 2014 and a “long traffic record” with multiple demerit points.

Mr Wong said that being away from her home and therapist had separated Kent from her support base and affected her “emotional and mental wellbeing”.

Because of her previous drink driving offence, Magistrate Swain declined to give her the minimum disqualification period.

This was despite Mr Wong pleading that Kent lived at Mt Tambourine, and not near public transport.

Kent’s lawyer presented a report from the Traffic Offenders’ Program, which Kent has completed.

The 31-year-old former The Bachelorette and Gogglebox TV personality was arrested in Sydney on October 3 after allegedly blowing positive for mid-range drink driving on her way to a picnic.

Queensland-based Kent is currently in Sydney while filming the upcoming season of Channel 7’s DWTS.

A NSW police statement said: “About 4.45pm on Sunday 3 October 2021, officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command stopped a grey Kia Cerato at the on ramp to the Anzac Bridge, Pyrmont, for the purpose of a random breath test.

“The driver of the Kia – a 31-year-old woman with a QLD driver’s licence – was breath tested at the scene and provided a positive reading.

“She was arrested and taken to Day Street Police Station where she submitted a breath analysis reading of 0.081.

“The woman was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice for mid-range PCA and her driving privileges in NSW were suspended.”

Kent shot to fame on Gogglebox Australia in 2015, before going on to star in I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here! in 2019.

She also starred on the 2019 season of The Bachelorette, where she chose Carlin Sterrit at the final rose ceremony. However, the pair split shortly after the finale aired.

After the break-up, Kent revealed during an interview on The Kyle and Jackie O show that she is pansexual.

She said that she “falls in love with a person, not the gender”.

The confession urged radio host Kyle Sandilands to ask, “Have you ever been with a woman?”

“No I haven’t, but I always said that I’d fall in love with a person, not the gender,” Kent replied.

“I’ve always said since I was younger, I fall in love with the soul rather than a gender.”

In addition to reality TV, Kent has also tried acting and landed a role in the feature film, The Possessed.

Kent will star in the movie alongside John Jarratt, Melissa Tkautz, Alli Simpson and former Bachelor star Romy Poulier.

Co-stars include Lincoln Lewis, Sean Lynch, Maha Wilson, Lauren Grimson, Simone Buchanan, Jade Kevin Foster and Melissa Bell.
