Dave 'Hughesy' Hughes explains his 'man crush' on Brad Pitt
WHEN it comes to interviewing celebrities, Dave Hughes could probably do it in his sleep, but he completely lost his cool when face-to-face with Brad Pitt.
WHEN it comes to interviewing celebrities, Dave Hughes could probably do it in his sleep, but he admits coming face-to-face with Brad Pitt was more nerve-wracking than his own wedding day.
Anyone who saw this interview on Channel 10's The Project on Tuesday night will know what we're on about. Hughesy's apparent 'man crush' on the Hollywood hunk was all anyone could talk about.
The Project managed to nab the only exclusive with the Wold War Z star while he was in Sydney this week and admits that things didn't exactly kick off to a flying start for the eager trio.
"We were so nervous. We were on the boat waiting for him to turn up, the boat was rocking back and forth and we were all getting seasick", the Nova breakfast radio host tells news.com.au of the interview on Sydney Harbour.
"This sure didn't help the nerves, producers were freaking out but luckily they brought sea sickness pills."
Hughesy's wife, Holly, even sent him a text joking that he should throw up on Brad and it would surely go viral.
"It's the Brad Pitt persona. It was the whole waiting for him to turn up on the boat, I felt like it was my bride walking down the aisle to get married."
Things quickly went from bad to worse for the comedian who commended Pitt on "still being so sexy in his 40s."
Clearly embarrassed, Pitt responded "next", and then pointed out the window behind him, saying "great view."
Fans yet to see the funnyman blush were in for a treat at that moment, with Dave turning a particular shade of scarlet after delivering his flirty compliment.
"Looking at it, I do see how my statement trying to tell him how he's an inspiration for men in his 40s came out all wrong."
Hughesy admitted that the only other star who could possibly send him into a spin would be Brad's fiancé, Ange.
"It's the star power of both of them together… You become the fool who they want to call security on. Like when I was 19 in a pub trying to talk to a girl, it never comes out right."
While co-host Carrie Bickmore seemed equally as star-struck and couldn't stop grinning from ear to ear, Charlie Pickering seemed to keep his cool in front of the A-lister.
But Hughesy promises that Pickering was just as awed: "Charlie loves Brad so he got in before and after the interview but he definitely had his moment with brad off film.
"I'd like to think I had my moment with Brad."
