An unexpected F-bomb left The Sunday Project panel in fits of laughter during tonight’s episode – and had Lisa Wilkinson slumped over the desk in hysterics.

Panellist Tommy Little had introduced one of the week’s more heartwarming sport stories: NRL rookie Cody Ramsey’s first game, watched on by his emotional, super-proud mum.

Ramsey’s mum Kim Stojanov wept tears of joy during a pre-game interview: “I‘m emotional. I started crying again. I can’t believe it. His dream has come true. He’s doing what he loves,” she said.

“Beautiful words, Wilko? From a mum just so proud of her son,” Little asked his fellow panellist, who agreed it was a “gorgeous” clip.

But, Little continued, the mum’s mood had changed by the time the game was underway. He cut back to footage of Kim in the stands yelling at a referee’s decision – and while her voice couldn’t be heard, it didn’t take a professional lipreader to see she was yelling “F**K OFF!”:

Don’t mess with mum.

“I believe she said it was a ‘FAIR CALL’,” Little said (it definitely wasn’t).

Cut back to the panel – and Wilkinson clearly wasn’t expecting that:

“That was me a couple of years ago,” she said when she regained her composure – likely a reference to her cameo on Nine’s Australian Ninja Warrior back in 2018, when she cheered son Louis on from the sidelines as he raced the course.

This isn’t the first time a surprise F-bomb has caught The Project panel by surprise in recent weeks. Last month Masked Singer contestant Christine Anu dropped it during a live interview about her eviction from the show.

The slip-up followed a question from Carrie Bickmore, who asked the unmasked star whether she’d consider re-releasing her 1995 hit My Island Home.

Without missing a beat, Anu candidly responded: “You say re-release and I’ve done a f***ing million versions…,” before trailing off as she realised her live television faux pas.

“And that’s the end of the show!” Carrie Bickmore called out with laugh, with Peter Helliar adding: “Somebody put a mask on her now!”
