Model: ‘He clearly wanted sex. I didn’t feel like I had anywhere to go. I was trapped’

SHE was a young model living the high life in Cannes, then she ended up in a hotel room locking herself away from Harvey Weinstein.

NEW Zealand model and actor Zoe Brock was 23 when she was “Harveyed”.

The Kiwi, now based in San Francisco, joined a sea of women this week saying she was sexually harassed by the disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein.

In an interview to air on 60 Minutes this Sunday, she describes being “singled out and hunted ... not by one predator, but by a pack of them” in Cannes two decades ago.

“He clearly wanted sex … I just didn’t feel like I had anywhere to go. I was trapped,” she tells journalist Tara Brown.

“I think he’s absolutely getting what he deserves right now.”

Brock, now 43, added her voice to the revelations via an explosive blog post this week.

“I was only 23 when I was ‘Harveyed’. It was 1997. I was a street smart kid with a tougher skin than most, and I came out of my experience with Weinstein physically unscathed, but that doesn’t make the story less shocking or emotionally jarring,” she wrote.

She met him at the Cannes film festival when she was seated next to him at a dinner.

She discovered they both knew The Piano’s Jane Campion.

“With a dear mutual friend in common I felt safe with Harvey,” she wrote, saying as the night progressed, Weinstein and his assistant “never left my side”.

The night — and party — progressed to several locations, with Brock saying she ended up in a car with Weinstein and two others, bound for the Hotel du Cap.

“We headed upstairs to Harvey’s room and opened another bottle of champagne while we waited for the gang to arrive. But the gang never arrived,” she wrote.

‘I BECAME VERY UNCOMFORTABLE’

“After a few minutes a couple of the guys made motions to leave temporarily to make calls. The energy shifted and I became very uncomfortable. I turned to Rick and asked him to please get in touch with my friends immediately and find out where they were. Rick said he would go downstairs and see if they were having trouble getting up to the room, and left.

“And suddenly I was alone in a remote hotel suite with Harvey f*****g Weinstein.”

Brock says Weinstein disappeared, only to reappear naked, asking for a massage. She claims when she refused, he asked if she wanted one.

“I told him I was uncomfortable and that I was angry that I had been tricked into this position. He pleaded with me to let him massage me and I let him put his hands on my shoulders while my mind raced,” she wrote.

“Panicking, in shock, I remember weighing up the options and wondering how much I needed to placate him to keep myself safe.”

She “shrugged his hands off me”, and ran, and locked herself in the bathroom.

“Harvey chased me, d***, balls and all, and banged on the door with his fists, pleading with me to come out,” she wrote.

‘CHASED ME AROUND NAKED’

When she told him this was “unacceptable” and to “put your clothes on you naughty, naughty boy”, she alleged he was contrite, and promised to cover himself and leave her alone.

She said she came out of the bathroom to find him sitting on the bed in a bathroom, crying, saying she did not like him because he was “fat”.

“I’m f***ing furious at you. You chased me around naked and scared me. You acted like a friend and then tricked me,” she says she told him.

She said he was apologetic, and she demanded he organise to get her home.

She then detailed a bizarre car ride with Schwartz and Weinstein during which Weinstein promised to make her a star.

About 3.30am, alone, in new hotel accommodation, Brock said she triple-locked the door behind her.

The next day, he sent flowers, a thankyou note, and placed himself directly behind her at a film screening.

“I felt extremely intimidated and really angry. I was serious. I felt betrayed by my agent, I felt disbelieved, I felt cheap,” Brock told RadioLIVE in New Zealand this week.

“Everyone in Hollywood knew, and anyone who says that they didn’t I call a liar. Everyone knew. Men and women, everyone enabled this.”

Brock was born in New Zealand and raised in Australia. Discovered at the age of 14, she modelled for Cosmopolitan, Elle, Harpers Bazaar and Glamour and walked catwalks at Fashion Weeks around the world.

60 Minutes airs on Channel 9 on Sunday at 8.30pm
