Michael Clarke is finally ready to talk about the Noosa incident that involved a wild public scuffle with his on-off girlfriend, Jade Yarbrough.

The former Australian cricket captain experienced a spectacular fall from grace when the altercation was secretly filmed by a bystander back in January and obtained by The Daily Telegraph.

In the footage, Clarke and Jade were engaged in a heated fight in a park in front of holiday-makers at the Queensland resort town.

The incident was made worse as Jade’s sister and brother-in-law, Jasmine and Karl Stefanovic, got roped into the public screaming match.

Aside from a carefully worded statement in the days after the incident, Clarke has maintained his silence. But now the 42-year-old is set to shed some light on what really went down in tonight’s edition of A Current Affair.

“Things hit you in life that are extremely unexpected,” he says in a teaser clip released this morning.

When asked by ACA journalist Simon Bouda to “talk to me about Noosa”, Clarke did not appear to hold back.

“Relationships are tough,” he replied. “When you’re in the spotlight, you’re in the spotlight. There’s no pick and choose.”

Clarke and co were dining at a waterfront restaurant at the time when he and Jade started a shouting match that spilt out in the nearby park. The post-dinner argument kicked off after she accused him of cheating on her with his ex-girlfriend, activewear mogul Pip Edwards – a claim he denied.

Stefanovic then tried to de-escalate the situation, only to be on the receiving end of Clarke’s vile rant.

“Karlos, I can tell you now c**t, don’t you f***ing look away. She can, she can punch me, but you, you c**t...” Clarke is heard telling the Today host.

In the days after the incident, Clarke issued a grovelling apology to those involved, admitting it was all his fault.

“I accept full responsibility for this altercation and am shattered by my actions,” he told The Daily Telegraph.

“I’m absolutely gutted I’ve put people I hold in the highest regard in this position. My actions in the lead-up to this altercation were nothing short of shameful and regrettable. I am shattered that because of my actions I’ve drawn women of class and integrity, and my mates, into this situation.”

In recent months, Jade also opened up about the fracas, which has since been dubbed “Noosagate”.

“There’s no rule book for navigating constant headlines, public life and heartbreak,” she told Stellar in September.

“Relationships can be tough and complicated and most people don’t have theirs splashed on the front page of the paper or dissected on breakfast TV. I felt heartbroken, and deeply embarrassed. I just wanted to hide forever.”

The pair split briefly after the headline-making incident, but sparked reconciliation rumours in July when she was seen at his Sydney home. Whispers they were back together got louder in September when they were seen travelling to southern France together.
