Meghan Markle’s surprising Aussie celeb ‘feud’ with Joel Creasey
An Australian comic has revealed his private meeting with Meghan Markle went ‘rapidly downhill’ during her and Harry’s Aussie visit.
It’s the celebrity feud we didn’t know we needed: Meghan Markle vs. Joel Creasey.
The Australian comedian revealed on this week’s episode of Ten’s The Sunday Project that he’s been harbouring something of a grudge against the Duchess of Sussex ever since their very brief, very awkward meeting in October of last year.
“I’m currently in a feud with Meghan Markle. I met her and we did NOT get on at all,” he told the Sunday Project panel.
Creasey was among the lucky few Aussies who were able to personally meet Markle and husband Prince Harry during their whirlwind tour down under — a visit that took place five months after their royal wedding.
Creasey had co-hosted the SBS coverage of the wedding, a connection he was keen to bring up with the newlywed.
“I got introduced to her — she came over and was planted in front of me. The governor of Victoria’s husband said to Meghan, “Oh Meghan, Joel hosted your wedding’,” he recalled.
“I think he was going to say ‘Joel hosted your wedding on TV,’ but before he could say that, Meghan cut him off and went (annoyed) ‘Ugh, I don’t remember you being there.”
His impression of Markle’s tone drew gasps from The Sunday Project’s studio audience.
“Right? So I fired back with ‘Because you didn’t invite me!’ It went rapidly downhill from there.”
Guest host Magda Szubanski suggested Creasey gets close to celebrities purely so he can tell unflattering stories about them in his stand-up routine.
“Magda, that is EXACTLY what I do. What are you doing after this, by the way?” he asked her.
Creasey’s anecdote comes days after a royal expert claimed Markle is a “pretty difficult person” who is making Prince Harry “miserable and glum”.
And mum-to-be Meghan has broken a four-decade royal tradition by shunning the hospital where sister-in-law Kate Middleton and Princess Diana both gave birth.
She and Prince Harry have decided not to have their baby at the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington, West London, The Sun reports.
Instead, the couple have opted for a maternity unit closer to their Windsor home.
