Lisa Wilkinson shocked by Tommy Little’s quip to Thelma Plum on Sunday Project

The Sunday Project’s Lisa Wilkinson was visibly shocked by a comment comedian Tommy Little made to singer Thelma Plum on the show.

Lisa Wilkinson was shocked by a quip from Tommy Little on The Sunday Project, telling the comedian, “you can’t say that!”

The hilarious moment came during an interview with singer Thelma Plum who was diagnosed with COVID-19 earlier in the year.

The singer, who performed at the first ever virtual National Indigenous Music Awards on Saturday, told the Channel 10 hosts what it was like to catch the virus.

“I lost my smell and my taste when I had COVID,” Plum said.

“It came back and I was really happy and now I’ve developed this thing called dysosmia, so everything I smell and taste smells like ammonia and garbage and rancid meats.”

The Sunday Project’s Susie Youssef sympathised with the singer and replied, “that’s horrendous”.

But Tommy Little was less sympathetic, joking, “I had a similar condition that was called ‘growing up with my mum’s cooking’”.

Wilkinson audibly gasped at Little’s comment before telling him, “you can’t say that!”

The comedian then asked Plum if her sense of taste and smell will be stuck that way forever.

“Look, I really hope not because food sparks so much joy for me,” Plum said. “I really miss garlic. I miss it so much.”

Plum was nominated for Artist of the Year at Saturday’s National Indigenous Music Awards but lost out to Northern Territory rapper Baker Boy.

Album of the Year went to Archie Roach for Tell Me Why, Miiesha won New Talent of the Year and Song of the Year went to Baker Boy for Meditjin.
