Lisa Wilkinson reported to remain off TV screens until 2024

Lisa Wilkinson will reportedly continue receiving her full salary while remaining off screens until next year.

Bruce Lehrmann reveals ‘outrage’ over Brittany Higgins media coverage

Former Project host Lisa Wilkinson will reportedly not return to screens again until 2024 as legal proceedings involving Brittany Higgins and Bruce Lehrmann run their course.

The seasoned presenter hasn’t appeared on television since November last year, when she sensationally quit the Ten program. However, she has continued receiving her full salary, The Australian’s Media Diary reported.

The publication claimed to have come into “whispers” that suggested Wilkinson could “soon” be conducting interview specials with high profile people, but it was unclear specifically when.

Wilkinson in recent days has been mentioned in an inquiry into the ACT criminal justice system’s handling of the Lehrmann trial which was discontinued last year because of juror misconduct.

Her Logies speech in June last that saw her praise Higgins was reported to be subject to the inquiry, along with the claim – firmly disputed by Wilkinson – that ACT Director of Public Prosecutions Shane Drumgold warned her against making it.

Media Diary reported Ten held concern Wilkinson would have further involvement in the Lehrmann legal proceedings beyond the inquiry

Lehrmann was last month given clearance to pursue Wilkinson and news.com.au’s Samantha Maiden for defamation, which is set to be heard on November 20 for 20 days.

Its expected Wilkinson will have play a significant part in the proceedings, with it unlikely Ten will have her partake in any television until the case concludes.

Her involvement in legal proceedings pertaining to Brittany Higgins and Bruce Lehrmann means Channel Ten is likely to keep her off air for several more months.

The Australian’s Media Diary previously reported Wilkinson would continue to pocket her rumoured seven-figure salary while she pondered her next move.

Wilkinson, who renewed a multi-year contract with Ten in 2021, reportedly gets paid upwards of $1.7 million a year.

At the time of her exit from The Project, it also lost Carrie Bickmore and Peter Helliar.

After leaving, Wilkinson said it was time to “reprioritise a few things in my life” after a difficult six months marked by “relentless, targeted toxicity”.
