‘I don’t have a TV show’: Grant Denyer makes fun of his Gold Logie nom
HE MIGHT be nominated in the Logies’ most prestigious category but Grant Denyer is lacking something very important.
HE MIGHT have been nominated in the Logies’ most prestigious category but Grant Denyer doesn’t have a television show anymore.
With Family Feud ending, Denyer faces the unusual prospect of going into the race for the Gold Logie on Sunday with a newly-axed show under his belt.
The irony of the situation has not been lost on Denyer, who appeared on Friday’s episode of The Project to spruik for votes.
“I don’t even have a TV show anymore — how ludicrous is that to be up for a Logie!” Denyer told the show.
The former Family Feud host, who will front new Network 10 show Game of Games later this year, also apologised to The Project panel for Tom Gleeson’s appearance last night.
Gleeson, who has decided to campaign for Denyer to win the Gold Logie, refused to leave the desk after his segment ended, gatecrashing an interview with The Rubens.
Ignoring demands from hosts Carrie Bickmore and Pete Helliar to move, the comedian instead repeated his slogan “Denyer for gold” until the show ended.
“I felt terrible because it was [after] I went in to do Hard Chat with Tom, which normally is [a] kind of segment where he sits you down and he pretty much just pulls you apart like organ by organ and leaves you in a heap,” Denyer said.
“But just as he was breaking me he kind of rebuilt me and then turned it all around on its head — and I’ve never seen him be nice in his life, and he started on his own this campaign — which I had no idea.
The #Denyer4Gold campaign has made @grantdenyerâs odds shorten from 8 to 5! DENYER 4 GOLD! DENYER 4 GOLD! DENYER 4 GOLD! DENYER 4 GOLD! pic.twitter.com/nPlKn6BmMT

“And then he came on here last night and refused to leave throughout the whole show — he held you guys to ransom, that’s not my fault, please don’t blame me.”
According to betting agencies, Denyer is currently the third favourite to win the Gold Logie behind Tracy Grimshaw and Amanda Keller.
But Gleeson’s campaign maybe working, with his hashtag #Denyer4Gold trending on Twitter and plenty of people declaring they will vote for Denyer.

Iâve decided to jump on @nonstoptomâs #Denyer4Gold bandwagon because I just walked the man himself at the airport and heâs a good half a foot taller than I was led to believe.
