Proud Boys founder Gavin McInnes goes ballistic at audience

Controversial right-wing commentator Gavin McInnes had an expletive laden melt down over people having their phones out while on a talk show.

Controversial right-wing commentator Gavin McInnes exploded during an TV interview after he spotted a young audience member having their phone out while he was talking.

During an appearance on US program Prime Time with Alex Stein, the founder of the far right, white nationalist Proud Boys group was in the middle of a conversation when he noticed a teenager sitting in the front row, using their phone.

“Get off your f**king phone,” the activist yelled.

“What’s the f**k is the matter with you?! That’s really rude, you know.

“You’re the studio audience, you’re on your phones? F**k off!

“Jesus Christ! Sorry I’m boring you!”

While Stein was trying to calm McInnes down, the writer continued ranting, telling the crew to “shut up” because he could hear them “chattering”.

“Most annoying background I’ve ever been a part of. F**k!,” he said.

“The crew and the f**king phone bunch! Leave it in your pocket. You’re at a show!

“You’re part of the show. Holy s**t, it’s so disrespectful. F**k!

McInnes went on to blast the younger generation over their addiction to their phones and social media.

“They’re not looking at [their phones] like updates saying, ‘oh there’s a tornado warning in effect’,” he said.

“They’re just scrolling through some simp garbage Instagram reels of some married woman with big t**s. Grow up!”

Who is Gavin McInnes?

McInnes rose to prominence as the co-founder of the media group Vice. He left the magazine in 2008 “creative differences”.

The British-born Canadian comedian reinvented himself as a conservative commentator. He began hosting a video and podcast series titled Get Off My Lawn and appeared on cable news panels.

“We tried their way. We tried apologies, capitulation and shame. Now it’s time for them to try something,” the description of his series reads.

Who are the Proud Boys?

The Proud Boys are anti-feminist, anti-political correctness men’s rights activists who rail against “white guilt” and increasingly embrace violent resistance.

While they are mostly based in the US, they also have a presence in Australia, the UK and Canada.

The group was established amid the 2016 presidential election by McInnes, who told the New York Times: “I love being white and I think it’s something to be very proud of”.

“I don’t want our culture diluted. We need to close the borders now and let everyone assimilate to a Western, white, English-speaking way of life.”

Members of the group wear red “Make America Great Again” caps, associated with Trump’s election campaigns, and black Fred Perry polo shirts, which the company stopped selling after it became associated with the far-right group.

Gavin McInnes took aim at Waleed Aly’s critique of Trump and the media.

McInnes’ controversial history

McInnes is no stranger to controversy.

Back in 2016, the co-founder of Vice Media launched an attack against The Project host Waleed Aly, claiming he “can’t handle the truth” while criticising him for “blowing up” and “dramatising” his tirade against then US presidential hopeful Donald Trump.

In a vlog for conservative news site Rebel Media, McInnes described Aly as an “East Indian virgin” and a “retard” and claimed the Logie winner had a “micro penis”, after Aly criticised Trump’s now infamous p***y remarks which shows Mr Trump verbally demeaning.

The conservative speaker also described Australia as “hot Canada”.

In 2017, McInnes was hit by pepper spray after riots erupted at a speaking engagement he was invited to at New York University.

Fights broke out at a protest amid an appearance by the conservative speaker, who school officials say was hit by pepper spray.

McInnes and The Proud Boys were banned from Twitter in 2018 for being “violent extremists” ahead of the second anniversary of the deadly Unite the Right neo-Nazi rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.
