The Project panel revamp will start from next Monday as beloved host Carrie Bickmore begins her overseas jaunt.

Bickmore announced last month that she was taking some time off to travel with her family, with Flash News Presenter Georgie Tunny and Chrissie Swan set to fill her seat.

Now it has been revealed just how the pair will divide the role, with Chrissie due to host on Mondays, and Georgie to take over on Tuesdays and Wednesdays alongside Waleed Aly and Peter Helliar, TV Tonight reports.

In a statement about her replacements, Carrie told fans: “Chrissie and Georgie are well loved by all at The Project, so I couldn’t think of anyone better to be on the show until I return in a few months.”

Executive producer Chris Bendall added to The Daily Telegraph of the decision: “Chrissie and Georgie are well known and loved by Project viewers and I am delighted to see them both take larger hosting roles.”

Shortly after the announcement, Chrissie herself made a candid confession about the role, saying that while the move “scares her”, she’s eager to “push myself out of my comfort zone”.

“In the spirit of saying ‘yes’ to things that scare me a little bit (actually a lot), and pushing myself out of my comfort zone, I have accepted the challenge to fill in for @bickmorecarrie on @theprojecttv once a week until Carrie returns from her overseas family adventure!” the mum-of-three posted to her 254k followers.

“I am so excited. See you soon on @theprojecttv,” she added.

Elsewhere, Georgie wrote: “I cannot wait to get started! I’ve been working with The Project team over the last four years and they really are some of the best and most talented people in the industry.

“I’ve always been drawn to The Project’s central ethos – news delivered differently – and think it’s so important to tell the stories of everyday Australians and help them make informed decisions, whatever they may be. Carrie’s been a great supporter of mine, and though they are massive shoes to fill, I’m looking forward to the challenge!”

Carrie, who told viewers she was “heading off on a family adventure” earlier this month, is due to return mid-year, but there is speculation she might extend her trip after selling her Melbourne home.

Opening up more about the move on Instagram, Carrie said she and partner Chris Walker had been dreaming of a family adventure for some time.

Carrie is mum to Ollie, 14, her son with partner Greg Lange who passed away after a battle with brain cancer in 2010, as well as six-year-old Evie and two-year-old Adelaide with Chris.

“One of the unexpected silver linings to come out of living through Melbourne’s lockdowns was the extended family time and we feel like this is our last chance to do something like this together before Ollie hits the pointy end of his schooling and no longer wants to hang out with us so … we are heading to the UK for a school term,” she wrote.
