Channel Ten’s heart-wrenching tribute to murdered host Jesse Baird

Network 10 has aired a heartbreaking tribute to former colleague Jesse Baird, whose remains were found alongside the body of Luke Davies after allegedly being murdered and buried in regional NSW last week.
Police will allege the murder of Jesse was premeditated by NSW police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon, but his partner Luke Davies was killed only for being in the wrong place, at the wrong time.
Sandra Sully introduced the tribute, her voice breaking with emotion, as she called on the public to remember Jesse as a talented, loving young man.
“We want to pay tribute to our friend and former colleague Jesse Baird, his murder alongside that of his partner Luke Davies has rocked Network 10. Our hearts go out to their family and friends,” Sully began.
“We want to remember Jesse for the man he was, and not how he died.
“Amazingly talented, funny, beautiful inside and out - and forever loved and missed.”
Baird was a rising star on network television, earning his first big break in his teens after landing a job at Totally Wild before moving to Studio 10 as a roving reporter.
He was also an avid AFL fan and worked as a goal umpire for the league.
Other colleagues at Channel 10 have also shared heartbreaking tributes this week.
Lachlan Kennedy looked to the words of a country song in his tribute on X.
“His talent was undeniable and energy infectious. Jesse Baird has had the brightest of futures stolen from him,” Mr Kennedy wrote.
“For years we chatted footy, utes and country music, so because I can’t find the words right now, I’ll let Cody sing it.”
Channel 10 presenter and meteorologist Josh Holt praised Mr Kennedy’s touching tribute.
“Well said Lach, such a shining light to all that knew him,” Mr Holt commented on Mr Kennedy’s post.
Support for the couple’s family and friends, as well as the Channel 10 newsroom has flowed in from reporters at opposition stations, with Channel 9 reporter Allan Raskall describing the deaths as “unfathomable”.
“So sad and unfathomable,” he wrote on X.
“Thinking of Jesse and Luke’s loved ones and the Ten family.”
Accused murderer Beau Lamarre-Condon waited days until he had finally spoken with a lawyer before allegedly telling police where they could find the bodies.
After days of searching across several crime scenes, police found their bodies near a property two hours south of Sydney on Tuesday afternoon.
The development comes just moments after police announced a crime scene had been established at a second property at Bungonia, a small town just outside of Goulburn in the Southern Tablelands.
Speaking at the press conference announcing the discovery, a tearful Detective Sergeant Sasha Pinazza, who led the investigation said: “I am exhausted, I’ve barely eaten or slept.
“We rallied again this morning and have come across a wonderful result for the families.”
A female witness is said to have been with Lamarre-Condon during part of his journey around Greater Sydney but is “innocent”, police said.
“We will allege he acted alone and he is the sole person responsible for putting the bodies of Luke and Jesse at the current location,’ Dept Supt Doherty said.
“What we’ll allege is that the accused went to the first property at Bungonia, as has been outlined, then he did go back to the property which was the first property that was searched and moved the bodies to the current location.”
