VIEWERS waiting for a BBC documentary about the disappearance of Madeleine McCann have slammed the British network for the strange clip they used as a lead in.

Many are calling for the broadcaster to apologise after a voiceover introducing the McCann documentary was put on top of a group of people searching with binoculars.

The 10 second snippet was caught by a number of keen eyed social media users, who have dragged the network for the ill-timed clip.

“Now on BBC One, the search goes on in a case like no other. Madeleine McCann, 10 years on,” the voiceover says, as a group of people search with binoculars.

Many viewers took offence at the video while others thought it was hilarious.

Another user wrote, “Oh god! That HAS to be an accident!”.

A spokesman for BBC One has since said, “The BBC has a birdwatching ident which appears across BBC One which the public is already familiar with.”

It’s been 10 years since three-year-old Madeleine McCann disappeared from her family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal while her parents were out for dinner.

Her alleged abduction has become one of the most talked about missing child cases in the world.

According to a chief from Scotland Yard, detectives are still working on the case and pursuing “critical” leads 10 years on.
