The executive producer of ABC’s Q+A is leaving the public broadcaster.

Erin Vincent shared the news on social media on Wednesday, while ABC news director Justin Stevens sent an email to staff thanking Vincent for her service, according to The Australian.

It comes just two days after it was revealed ABC radio host Patricia Karvelas would replace Stan Grant as Q+A host after he decided to step down due to racist abuse in May.

Mr Stevens had previously said Grant had taken eight weeks leave and hoped he would be back after his time away, but that has not happened.

Vincent is moving on from ABC to become chief executive at The Wheeler Centre, a literary and publishing centre in Melbourne.

“I have had so many amazing opportunities at the ABC, leading so many passionate and talented people,” Vincent posted on Instagram.

But after 14 years she said she was ready for something new.

Olivia Hill-Douglas will take over as acting EP, The Australian reports.

news.com.au has contacted ABC for further comment.

Grant, who is still on leave, will continue at the ABC and contribute to “a number” of different programs.

“We want to do all we can to support Stan and ensure he continues to play a major role in Australian media,” Mr Stevens said in a statement on Monday.

“He has the ability to lead our media toward a kinder and more constructive conversation.

“In Wiradjuri ‘dyiraamalang’ means a teacher and leader. Stan Grant, a proud Wiradjuri man, is both of those things and I’m looking forward to seeing what he does into the future.”

Mr Stevens said Karvelas “has been doing an outstanding job as fill-in host and we’re delighted she has agreed to continue in that role”.

In a piece published by the ABC in May, before his final Q+A show, Grant spoke about the abuse he had been subjected to after King Charles III’s coronation and announced he would be walking away from the program for an indefinite period.
