ABC hosts lose it over Bob Katter’s bizarre marriage rant
BOB Katter was asked for a soundbite on same-sex marriage — and his response left a panel of TV presenters in hysterics.
AN interview with colourful North Queensland Federal MP Bob Katter is going viral online after the pollie gave a bizarre answer to a question about marriage equality.
The clip was aired on ABC current affairs panel show Insiders, and left the show’s panel including host Barrie Cassidy in stitches.
Katter asked for his view on Australia’s historic vote in favour of marriage equality during a press conference last week — and his response took more than one unexpected turn.
“I mean, y’know, people are entitled to their sexual proclivities. Let there be a thousand blossoms bloom, as far as I’m concerned,” he said brightly, chuckling as he spoke.
In an instant, Katter’s face changed, his tone suddenly furious.
“But I AIN’T spendin’ any time on it, because in the mean time, every three months, a person is torn to pieces by a crocodile in North Queensland,” he spat.
Watching the clip, you’d be forgiven for assuming it shows Katter in two separate sections of the interview, so rapid is his mood change.
Back on Insiders, the panel could barely contain their amusement at Katter’s answer and split-second mood shift.
“So we should put the whole country on hold until we sort out that particular problem?” asked Cassidy.
With Insiders sharing the clip on Twitter today, the days-old interview snippet has found new life online:
if someone from another country asked me to describe Bob Katter i would just send them this video https://t.co/dLm1vTE8XD

... but what does this even mean? Blossoms? Sudden angry face, crocodiles? Iâd feel safer adrift with a same sex attracted crocodile called Blossom than with Katter but I AINâT SPENDING ANY MORE TIME ON IT!

Oh my god, this was hilarious, but not in a good way. He came across all Jekyll and Hydish, was very creepy ð

Katter is a fine FNQ intellect who can always incorporate crocodiles into whatever he is saying. That takes uncommon skill, ya know. Just don't get put off by his high-pitched, redneck giggle.

The funniest bit is the head nod/shake behind him when he says 'sexual proclivities' ð His nodder wasn't quite sure what to do.

In an interview after the survey’s ‘Yes’ result was announced last week, Katter fumed that Australians had been sold a “great, big fat lie.”
The independent pollie told the station the government had wasted a year on the issue, when his Australia is “burning” because of high unemployment, crime and lack of water.
