Céline Dion recreates iconic Titanic scene, turns Baby Shark into a power ballad in glorious Carpool Karaoke
Céline Dion has proven she is the reigning queen of power ballads in possibly one of the the best episodes of James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke yet.
Céline Dion has proven she can turn just about any song into a power ballad, even the infectious earworm Baby Shark.
Dion has finally done Carpool Karaoke and it’s one of the funniest segments to come out of late night television in a while.
The superstar took a break from her Las Vegas residency at Caesars Palace Casino to belt out some classics with Late Late Show host James Corden.
Dion not only showed she’s still the queen of the ballads, but she’s also extremely funny too.
After singing along to Rihanna and other divas, Corden asked if she could Dionify Baby Shark’s simple lyrics “Baby Shark, Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo, Baby Shark, Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo.”
“Do you think you’d be able to make Baby Shark dramatic?” Cordon asks.
No problem, Dion indicates and belts it out as though fit for the next Bridget Jones soundtrack.
“That’s an incredible version of Baby Shark that I don’t think anyone will ever forget,” Corden told her, laughing.
It was then time for Dion to karaoke her own famous songs.
She noticeably scoffed and cringed when the intro to It’s All Coming Back To Me Now played through the speakers.
But once the song started Dion got right into it, planting a big kiss on Corden’s lips after singing the famous chorus: “If I kiss you like this, and if you whisper like that. It was lost long ago but it’s all coming back to me …”
Dion also showed she has big respect for her fans, when the car stopped at traffic light she stuck her head out the window to serenade a group who recognised her.
Corden took a break from singing to ask Dion a few important questions — mainly how many shoes she owns.
At first she responded 3000, but then it she revealed it was likely closer to 10,000 and they’re housed in a magical shoe warehouse.
When Corden suggested Dion cull some of her shoe babies, she shot him a mortified look and declared “I need alcohol.”
But she quickly came round to the idea and started throwing some of her beloved shoes to the public.
The pair then sing Because You Loved Me and Dion is asked what she really thinks of her mega-fame.
She tells a disturbing story of how she gave birth to her first child.
“I don’t even have him in my arms yet and look to the left and there’s a television camera there and doctor is announcing live on television that it’s a beautiful baby boy … I’m saying to myself my baby is on television and I haven’t even held him yet.”
The focus quickly turns back to karaoke when Dion changes out of her fabulous shiny tweed suit for the pair’s big finale, and boy is it big.
Dion decides if they’re going to sing her biggest hit My Heart Will Go On, which Cordon clearly really wants to, they’re going to have to recreate the iconic scene from Titanic.
So Dion and Cordon took centre stage on the edge of a boat in the middle of the fountains outside Caesars Palace casino.
It is epic, fans were actually brought to tears (likely of laughter) at seeing Céline Dion in the arms of James Cordon singing her most famous power ballad.

“Are you kidding me!” she said, eyerolling.
But like the true diva she is, she gets into it — clenched fists and all.
