Bradley Cooper’s incredibly awkward interview
THE A Star Is Born actor was labelled a “miserable git” for his pained reaction to this enthusiastic interviewer.
BRADLEY Cooper looked like he’d rather be anywhere else during an unusually lively interview for British television this week.
The A Star Is Born actor and director sat down with British showbiz reporter Alison Hammond, who’s carved out a niche for unusual, frequently hilarious interviews with Hollywood A-listers.
Last year, she made Blade Runner: 2049 stars Harrison Ford and Ryan Gosling crack up when she happily admitted she’d never seen the original film. Other interviewees including Tom Cruise, Hugh Jackman and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson have all fallen for her charms.
Seems Cooper didn’t get the memo.
In a clip from their interview that’s been shared far and wide on social media, Hammond can be seen enthusiastically serenading Cooper with a self-penned song, pitching herself for any future musicals he might direct.
“Can you feel it, tell me can you feeeel it,” she sang — and sang, for 30 long seconds.
The actor’s reaction? To sit perfectly still, face frozen in an expression of pained dismay, perhaps hoping Hammond’s vision is based on movement:
To his credit, Cooper did at least offer Hammond a polite golf clap at the end of her performance — all while glancing at his minders off-screen:
Not to be discouraged, Hammond then launched into a second round of the song, this time encouraging Cooper to join in. A muted “Wow …” was about all he could muster.
Viewers were divided: Was Hammond showboating? Was Cooper a stick-in-the-mud? At least all could agree on one thing: It was really awkward to watch.
If someone sings to me on an awkward interview Iâll absolutely have the same facial expression as Bradley Cooper pic.twitter.com/wdWiHLBD9P

Bradley Cooper looked like a right miserable git. I get he'd probably done about 20000 interviews like that already, but he's not exactly selling his film ð #ThisMorning
