After 12 seasons, the beloved sitcom The Big Bang Theory is coming to an end. But Kaley Cuoco, who has long played Penny on the show, is happy with the ending the series’ writers gave her character.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the cast’s handprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood this week, the actress said Penny has a “beautiful” send-off in the final season.

“I’m thrilled with [Penny’] ending, yet beginning,” she said. “There’s not anything catastrophic, it’s just beautiful. And the characters are gonna live on in your minds and in your hearts, and I think that’s what is so special about it. It’s really touching.”

The 33-year-old also revealed it was difficult for her to hold back tears during the show’s final days of production, per ET.

“I might be cried out if that’s possible. It’s been an unbelievable couple days,” she said.

“There [have been] a lot of tissues,” Cuoco continued. “It started with reading that initial script, and then last night shooting it in front of the audience, and this morning with the hands at Mann’s Chinese [Theatre]. It’s just been a beautiful tribute to our show. I don’t know, I just feel so grateful. It’s been a gift, a gift of 12 years.”

The actress also revealed there has been “stress” for both the show’s actors and writers regarding the series’ ending.

“How’s this gonna end? This is my legacy of this character, on and on,” she added.

And as for the show’s two-part finale, Cuoco called it “beautiful” and “amazing.”

“It is the most beautiful finale I have ever seen, and I love finales. It is so touching. You’re gonna cry, but in the sweetest way,” she said. “I don’t know how to describe it, other than it’s absolutely the sweetest thing in the world.”
