Australian Ninja Warrior becomes highest rating non-sports program with over 3 million viewers

THE finale of Australian Ninja Warrior has smashed its TV rivals as it set a ratings record unlikely to be beaten this year.

THE finale of Australian Ninja Warrior smashed rivals last night as it blasted past three million viewers nationally.

The Final Stage of Nine’s sports game show – with Brisbane’s Fred Dorrington the best of the competitors – averaged a whopping 2.145 million viewers in the five capital cities and another 942,000 in regional areas.

The earlier part on the Grand Final fell just shy of the 3 million mark, averaging 2.038 million in the capital cities and 883,000 in regional areas.

The result cements the Australian Ninja Warrior finale as the highest rating non-sports program so far in 2017 – and the figure is unlikely to be topped before year’s end.

Rivals Seven and Ten shied away from putting top-flight programs up against the Australian Nina Warrior final.

Seven’s Mighty Cruise Ships averaged a measly 369,000 viewers and Ten’s repeat of All Star Family Feud averaged a dismal 210,000.

Seven’s Yummy Mummies, which screened from 8.30pm, tanked on 281,000 with episode two dropping to 227,000.
