Anna Kendrick’s TV show is among the slate of new HBO Max original series, and it’s found a home and a date in Australia.

Love Life Trailer (HBO Max)

Anna Kendrick’s TV series Love Life will be heading to Stan on May 27.

The 10-episode romantic comedy stars Kendrick, Zoe Chao, Peter Vack and Oscar nominee Lesley Manville.

The series is designed to be an anthology, but by season and not episode, similar to how Fargo and True Detective were structured with each season following a different story.

It’s been billed as one person’s journey from first love to last love and all the experiences along the way that readies them for that forever person.

The series is created by Sam Boyd, a filmmaker best known for his previous feature In A Relationship, which starred Emma Roberts.

Love Life is being executive produced by Paul Feig, a creative and producing powerhouse behind titles including Bridesmaids, Spy, Freaks and Geeks and A Simple Favour. He also played Mr Poole in the first season of Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

Love Life is the first HBO Max TV show to be dated for Australia.

HBO Max is a new streaming service launching in the US next month from Warner Bros, another entrant in an already crowded marketplace.

It will feature back catalogues from HBO – the premium cable network behind shows including Game of Thrones, The Sopranos and The Wire – as well as Warner Bros content such as Friends and classic films including The Wizard of Oz and 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Love Life is one of the six HBO Max originals launching when the streaming platform debuts in the US on May 27.

In Australia, HBO broadcast content such as Succession and Westworld is exclusive to Foxtel due to a licensing deal, but this agreement doesn’t include the new HBO Max programming.

Stan does not have a deal with HBO for HBO Max content but appears to be acquiring some shows through separate licensing deals it has in place with the studios producing the series.

According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Stan will also have the local rights to Made for Love and Station Eleven through a deal with Paramount.

Love Life is produced by Lionsgate, which Stan has a content deal with.

There are no confirmed plans for HBO Max to launch in Australia, although the company did register the trademark here.

In the past year alone, new streaming services in Australia include Disney+, Apple TV+ and Quibi. BBC and ITV’s BritBox service, with a focus on British content, will launch in Australia before the end of the year.
