Ramirez, who plays the character Che Diaz on the popular series and uses they/them pronouns, has been posting a flood of content to their Instagram in support of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas since November of 2023.

In a post made on Wednesday, they slammed the “industry” as being “duplicitous” and used the past tense to describe their role on And Just Like That.

“While they give awards away, casting directors and agents are making blacklists of actors and workers who post anything in support of Palestinians in Gaza to ensure they will not work again,” the actor wrote. “While they lift up some of their own clients who have spoken up against this genocide, they are firing and letting others who have smaller platforms go.”

Ramirez then continued: “I get it. Awards are shiny and people need to pay their rent or feel special and powerful. Meanwhile we are beyond the 100 day mark on this ‘war’ that has been acknowledged by many, including the ICC, as a genocide. It’s wild how performative so many in Hollywood are. Even more performative than the last character I played.”

news.com.au has reached out to HBO for comment, however the streaming giant refused to confirm or deny the reports when contacted by Mail Online.

Ramirez would not be the first actor to be impacted by their social media posts in support of Palestine.

Hollywood actor Melissa Barrera was fired from Scream 7 in a shock move by the studio behind the hugely popular horror franchise.

Barrera had been a vocal supporter of Palestine throughout the recent conflict, and has been critical of Israel’s actions in numerous social media posts.

The actor had compared the situation in Gaza to “concentration camps” and likened it to “genocide and ethnic cleansing” by the Israeli government. However, she has also expressed sympathy and support for the Jewish community.

Following reports of her firing, a backlash from fans swiftly followed on social media platforms with the hashtag “#boycottscream” trending on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Amid the backlash from fans, Spyglass, the studio behind the franchise, released a statement saying it had “zero tolerance” for “false references to genocide”.

A spokesman clarified Barrera was fired because the studio had interpreted some of her posts as “antisemitic”.
