Vivid headliner Ethel Cain breaks silence after collapsing onstage at Sydney Opera House
One of the headliners of the Vivid Festival collapsed onstage just three songs into her sold-out Sydney Opera House show last night.
American singer-songwriter Ethel Cain has broken her silence after collapsing on-stage midway through her Sydney show on Saturday night, forcing the rest of the concert to be cancelled.
Cain was performing as one of the headliners of the Vivid Festival and was less than three songs into the second of her three sold-out shows at the Sydney Opera House when she suddenly fell backwards on-stage.
In an Instagram post on Sunday afternoon around four hours before her next scheduled performance, she confirmed the show would go ahead.
“Hi everyone, so sorry I wasn’t able to finish the show last night but all this touring and travelling has finally caught up with me,” she wrote.
“I am feeling better today though and am excited for the show tonight! I promise I will make it up to those of you from last night whenever I can. Thank you much Sydney, love you all.”
In footage filmed by shocked fans and circulated on social media, Cain could be seen singing the song A House in Nebraska behind a microphone stand when she suddenly fell to the ground.
Her band could be seen rushing to her aid and offering her water. She was able to get to her feet with assistance, and was led off-stage, but the rest of the concert was then cancelled.
Multiple videos of the incident circulated online overnight – however Cain’s fans urged concertgoers to delete them, labelling it “insensitive and disrespectful” to share footage of the medical episode online. Several videos which were posted on Twitter shortly after the show have since been deleted.
hi everyone, hayden is in stable condition but the show got canceled, with that being said, if you have a video of her collapsing on stage, please donât post it. thatâs extremely insensitive and disrespectful. wishing her a speedy recoveryð

As yet, there has been no statement from either Cain or Vivid organisers about her condition, or whether her final Sydney show, taking place tonight at the Opera House, will still go ahead.
