Taylor Swift murals pop up in capital cities as Eras Tour fever hits new high

The mega star has taken over the national conversation during her visit to Australia, though not everyone is jumping on board the hype.

Taylor Swift's Era evolution from country star to global icon

Australia is right at the height of Taylor Swift fever with tributes to the superstar popping up in city streets and on regional beaches, but some are less than impressed with the mayhem.

The 13-time Grammy winner is currently taking a few days off after performing for the biggest crowd of her career at Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

She was due to board her private jet to Sydney at midday, and eager fans are keen to spot her enjoying her time off in the streets of the harbourside city ahead of the next four-day run of shows.

Before the Anti-Hero singer’s jet even touched down at Sydney airport, fans have reported catching glimpses of Swift in their neighbourhood.

Multiple murals have been done up in dedication to the star but not everyone is happy.

“Ffs. Seriously. These protraits used to have meaning of purpose and cultural discussion,” one person wrote.

“Can we not,” wrote another.

“My goodness. Anyway would think she was the saviour of the human race,” one said.

“Celebrity worship is pure cancer,” another wrote.

However, a number of people thought the mural’s made sense.

“Why would people hate on someone so talented who writes, composes and produces her own music. All her original songs are written or co written by herself.

“Can safely say she has pumped more money into the local economy than Albo,” another said.

Where to find the Taylor Swift murals in Sydney?

On Crown Street in Surry Hills, a huge portrait of the megastar painted on a brick wall has captured the attention of locals and visitors.

The large portrait depicts her wearing a red wrap dress, wearing a gold chain with the her NFL boyfriend Travis Kelce’s jersey number ‘87’ on a pendant, and her iconic blonde hair swept over her shoulder.

Nearby at Universal Studios’ city office on William Street, the facade has been wrapped in Eras Tour branding with the words: “Welcome to the Eras Tour”.

In Crows Nest, north of the CBD, another portrait has been painted on the side of Big Music School & Studios.

“We wonder if this means she could be dropping by for a little jam session with the talented Big Music crew?” an Instagram post from Willoughby Living said.

Melbourne also had its fair share of murals dedicated to the star, including Flinders St station which was lit up with her face.

One very enthusiastic fan went so far as to carve Swift and one of her pet cats onto the sandy shores of Bukareeyoo beach near Geelong.
