Taylor Swift donates to food bank in heartwarming act

The global megastar made a “generous” move to help Aussies doing it tough ahead of her Melbourne show last night.

Two days after touching down in the country, Taylor Swift has made a “generous donation” to help Aussies doing it tough.

The pop star, who just kicked off her highly anticipated Australian leg of her popular Eras Tour in Melbourne on Friday night, made a surprise donation to Foodbank Victoria, which helps feed those in need.

The charity thanked Swift for the heartwarming act in a post on social media on Friday.

“As if we couldn’t love you any more than we already do,” it wrote on X.

“Your generous donation to Foodbank Victoria will put a sparkle back in the eyes of so many Victorians doing it tough right now! THANK YOU.”

A spokesperson for Foodbank told the Sydney Morning Herald the charity received a surprise call from Swift’s people on Friday afternoon.

“We’re thrilled!” they told the publication.

The exact amount of the donation has been kept private.

Swift has been known to make generous donations to food banks along her Eras Tour, which kicked off in March 2023.

In July, the signer donated to US food banks Second Harvest in Silicon Valley and Food Lifeline in Seattle.

It comes after Swift donated $100,000 on Friday to a fundraiser supporting the family of the woman killed in a mass shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory parade.

The GoFundMe page was set up one day prior, aiming to raise $75,000 for the family of Elizabeth Lopez-Galvan, who died in the shooting that also left 22 people injured, including several children.

“Sending my deepest sympathies and condolences in the wake of your devastating loss. With love, Taylor Swift, read a message next to a $50,000 donation to the cause. A second donation in the same amount was deposited minutes later.

A Swift’s aide confirmed to Variety magazine that the donations on the page were in fact the singer’s.

On Friday, Swift sang to almost 100,000 fans who gathered at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) to watch the global megastar in her biggest concert to date.

Swift and support act Sabrina Carpenter will play three shows over three nights at the MCG from Friday in Melbourne before jetting over to Sydney for another four shows at Accor Stadium next weekend.

After her seven concerts in Australia, she will travel to Singapore, before playing a string of about four dozen shows across Europe.
