Taylor Swift 2024 Aussie tour ticket resale opens: How it works
Taylor Swift fans still desperately hoping to see her in action are being thrown one final lifeline, just months ahead of her Aussie tour.
Trying to score tickets to Taylor Swift’s Australian tour has basically become 2023’s extreme sport.
But the many, many people who are still desperately hoping to see the US megastar on her Eras tour next year have been thrown another lifeline.
Ticketek today opened its official resale platform, Marketplace – which means fans may be able to snap up verified tickets in the lead-up to the February concerts.
Tickets sold through Marketplace are officially recognised by the company, meaning it's the only way fans are able to transfer them. Tickets can also only be resold for 10 per cent more than they were originally bought, in a system designed to crack down on the scalping which has plagued the industry and fans for years.
Anyone looking to resell or buy Swift tickets is now able to try their luck – although there’s no guarantee of how many will be available.
Given the record-breaking demand in the initial run of sales, fans may need to brace for more disappointment, at least initially. However, tickets may become available on the site at any time from now until the Aussie performances begin.
“Important note! This is not a new release of tickets, Marketplace will only list tickets for any fans who wish to sell their tickets,” a note on Ticketek’s Marketplace homepage warned ahead of the resale opening.
“Ticket availability is therefore subject to fans listing their tickets for resale.”
The latest chance to see Swift comes just weeks after a last batch of spots opened up across all venues, offering discounted seats in exchange for a partially-obstructed side view of the performance.
Earlier this year, Swift had also added two more shows to the Aussie leg of her popular tour following overwhelming demand for tickets during pre-sales in June.
More than a million fans had flooded the Ticketek website in the hopes of securing one of just 450,000 tickets to the initial three Sydney and two Melbourne stadium shows.
The Eras Tour will kick off its run of seven shows on February 16 in Melbourne and February 23 in Sydney and feature special guest artist Sabrina Carpenter.
It is estimated Swift’s Eras Tour will rake in an eye-watering $US1 billion globally, making it the highest grossing tour of all time.
It marks the first time Swift has been to Australia since her Reputation tour in 2018.
In the years since, she’s released four new albums and re-released several of her earlier records.

Eras will cover a full sweep of her music catalogue, with more than 40 songs over three-and-a-half hours.
Based on the US shows she’s performed so far, the performance will be split into 10, non-chronological “eras” for each of her albums.
It begins with six songs from Lover, moving into three songs from Fearless, five songs from evermore, four songs from Reputation, one song from Speak Now, four songs from Red – including the 10-minute version of All Too Well – seven songs from folklore, five songs from 1989 and wrapping up with seven songs from Midnights.
