Swiftie remains in hospital after surviving a horror crash on way to Eras Tour concert
The 10-year-old’s sister died in a horror car crash on her way to Taylor Swift’s concert in Melbourne.
A girl remains in a coma a week after a horror crash while on a cross-country road trip to see Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.
Freya Pokarier, 10, suffered serious injuries when the SUV her mum was driving collided with a semi-trailer near Dubbo on February 15.
The family had been driving from the Gold Coast to Melbourne for the first night of Swift’s tour.
Her teenage sister Mieka, 16, died at the scene and her mother has since been discharged from hospital.
The girls godmother Karleigh Fox said Freya remains in a coma at Westmead hospital as of Friday – a week after the tragic incident.
“We don’t have any updates on our darling Freya’s condition for you,” Ms Fox said in a post to their GoFundMe page.
“We are just surrendering to this process of continued patience and working through all of the logistic work that comes with staying in a town that is not our own and grieving for Mieka.”
She asked if any fans attending the concert in Sydney over the weekend could send her a livestream link so that she can play it for Freya.
“To those of you heading to Taylor for the next few nights, we wish you the best nights of your lives – if anyone knows how to stream the gig so we can play it for Freya please do reach out to me (I’m not very IT),” Ms Fox said.
The family have also asked Swifties to wear a friendship bracelet with Mieka’s name in her honour, so “it’s like she’s still there”.
The girl’s primary school on the Gold Coast have changed their school bell to a Taylor Swift song in honour of them.
Their father and older sister travelled down from Queensland to be her bedside.
Ronald McDonald House have provided accommodation and meals for them while they are in the city.
