Spice Girls reunite for stadium tour without Victoria Beckham
THE Spice Girls are finally back together — but absent member Victoria Beckham has a message for her former bandmates.
THE Spice Girls are finally giving fans what they really, really want: a reunion.
The 1990s girl group announced on Monday that they’re getting the band back together for a UK stadium tour - but without Victoria Beckham, who reportedly is too busy with her fashion label.
“Breaking Spice news... Tickets on sale Saturday 10.30am,” the Spice Girls posted on their newly-created social media pages, along with a tongue-in-cheek video announcement that showed the four-piece bickering over wardrobe choices:
As eagle-eyed fans pointed out, the band members bickering over Geri ignoring an all-black dress code and turning up in a bright outfit seemed to be a nod to the band’s last reunion announcement, back in 2007, when Geri did just that:
Aussie fans might also find the announcement video reminds them of something else: Nine reporter Amber Sherlock’s infamous white jacket-gate viral video from 2017.
Apart from Victoria “Posh Spice” Beckham, now a successful fashion designer, the line-up includes Melanie “Sporty Spice” Chisholm, Emma “Baby Spice” Bunton, Melanie “Scary Spice” Brown and Geri “Ginger Spice” Horner.
Sadly for Aussie fans, there are currently only six shows scheduled - all in the United Kingdom. However, Mel B hinted on British panel show Loose Women yesterday that she and her fellow bandmates would like to go on a world tour in the future.
Asked if she’d like them band to go on a world tour, she responded: “We are. The hopes are that we go everywhere else in the world, but right now it’s just the UK.”
The group’s 2007-08 reunion ‘world tour’ famously fell apart before the group could reach Australia, despite them announcing plans for a Sydney date.
Tickets for the UK dates will go on sale on Saturday.
Fans are already excited — including perhaps their most famous superfan, Adele, who shared an adorable throwpack picture of herself at the height of 1990s Spice-mania:
Others expressed their disappointment that as of now, the ‘Spice World’ tour is confined to just six UK dates:
Literally been waiting for the Spice Girls to announce their tour. AND ITâS ONLY IN THE UK?!?! Tell me this is a mistake.

Only the Spice Girls would have the nerve to call a 6-date UK tour âSpice WORLDâ pic.twitter.com/DzfV0p3VaW

And while Victoria Beckham won’t be joining the tour, she has given her former bandmates her blessing, writing on Instagram: “Today marks a special day for the girls as they announce the first tour dates since we performed together in 2012! I won’t be joining my girls on stage again but being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish them so much love and fun as they go back on tour next year. I know they will put on an amazing show and the fantastic fans past and present are going to have a wonderful time!”
Speculation of a reunion reached fever pitch in February when all five girls met up and teased that they were looking at new opportunities.
The rumours were resurrected last week when the line-up for the November 10 chat show The Jonathan Ross Show was uploaded to the website of TV channel ITV.
Ross is a longtime friend of the group, having cameo’d in their sadly not Oscar-nominated 1997 film Spice World.
“This week on The Jonathan Ross Show, in a TV exclusive, Emma Bunton, Mel B, Mel C and Geri Horner will be chatting together on the sofa. Plus, the hilarious John Bishop, and international pop icon Kylie Minogue, who’ll also be performing a duet with Jack Savoretti,” the blurb for the episode trumpets.
The band was a 1990s phenomenon with hits including Wannabe and Viva Forever.
They performed as a four-piece for two years after Horner quit the band in 1998, split in 2000 and last reunited at the 2012 London Olympics.
