Queensland MP and Taylor Swift mega fan pleads with star to come to Brisbane on tour

A heartbroken Queensland MP says he’s willing to get down on his knees and grovel if that means Taylor Swift will bring the Eras tour to the Sunshine State.

A heartbroken Queensland MP has joined the ranks of the thousands of die hard Taylor Swift fans begging the pop icon to rethink her decision to skip the Sunshine State in her upcoming tour of Australia.

Andrew Wallace, who became a Swiftie after spending hours in the car listening to her music thanks to his four daughters, has pleaded with the superstar to schedule a concert date in Queensland.

“Interestingly, there is a about a week in between her three concerts in Sydney and two concerts in Melbourne. That is the perfect opportunity,” he told reporters in Canberra.

“Taylor, I’m asking you, begging you, I’m pleading with you. I’ll get down on my knees if I have to. Please come to Queensland. There are so many Swiftie fans in Queensland. I am one of them.

“To the guys at Frontier touring company, I don’t know why you left Queensland off, it’s the first time Taylor will be visiting Australia and not Queensland.”

Queensland MP Andrew Wallace has started a petition after he was left heartbroken Taylor Swift left off his state from the Eras tour.

Millions of fans from across the country and New Zealand are expected to be scrambling when the tickets to Swift’s much anticipated stadium goes on sale next week.

But fans in Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth were left shocked by the news Swift’s Eras Tour would only be stopping in Australia in February for just five nights in Sydney and Melbourne.

Within hours of the 12-time Grammy winning artist’s announcement, Swifties launched a petition on charge.org calling for Brisbane to be included on the tour.

Sports Minister, and fellow Queenslander, Anika Wells crashed Mr Wallace’s press conference and declared the Anti-Hero songbird’s snub was an “outrage”.

Mr Wallace, who has redesigned part of his website and started his own petition in a bid to get the star to come to Queensland, denied it would lead to Bad Blood between himself and Swift.

“No one would ever be able to develop Bad Blood between myself and Taylor Swift. It just would not be possible,” he said.

But the former Speaker of the House of Representatives conceded he’d be “very happy” to fly anywhere to see the pop star live.

Assistant Minister Patrick Gorman called the decision to skip Perth a “gross injustice”. He said it was the “one thing that this parliament cannot address”.

He said he’d be willing to donate to someone in his electorate who will have to fork out an arm and a leg to fly to the eastern states to see Swift live.

“I will find a way to support someone in my electorate to get to something that is probably more important to them than it is to me,” he said.

The Prime Minister, who outed himself as a Swiftie last week, told Sydney radio on Thursday he became a fan of the artist when she dropped her two surprise albums Folklore and Evermore.

Asked if he believed Anthony Albanese was a true fan of the global superstar, Mr Wallace said: “Well I don’t know, I didn’t see the interview … I can tell you hand on heart, I am absolutely dedicated”.
