Post Malone rocks Brisbane

Fans who braved the elements to attend Post Malone’s outdoor Sydney show on Wednesday night were rewarded with a surprise from the US superstar: A duet with Aussie rapper The Kid LAROI.

Post Malone brought LAROI on-stage halfway through his show at Sydney’s Domain last night, the pair sitting cross-legged on stage as they performed two songs together: LAROI’s song Bleed, and their recent duet Wasting Angels.

It came after a dramatic few hours before the open-air concert was due to start, with wild weather lashing Sydney late on Wednesday afternoon, just as gates were due to open and thousands of fans began flocking to the venue.

Concert promoter Live Nation issued several updates to fans, first asking them to delay their arrival at the venue, and then asking those already heading to the Domain to seek shelter.

Thankfully, the skies cleared ahead of Post Malone’s 8:45pm on-stage arrival time, meaning the show could go on.

Post’s surprise duet with The Kid LAROI follows his antics at another Australian show last week, where he attempted to break a record for most “shoeys” done during a show.

A “shoey” is the now-infamous Australian custom of skolling a drink out of a shoe – something that, in recent years, has been enthusiastically embraced by touring artists including Harry Styles and Lizzo.

Others have been less keen to partake – with country star Kacey Musgraves memorably refusing amid chants for her to do a shoey at a 2019 Sydney concert, tellng the crowd: “That’s disgusting. I’m not f**king drinking out of your shoe.”

Post managed an admirable (or regrettable) seven shoeys throughout last week’s Brisbane show, his first of the tour.

The star’s Australian If Y’all Weren’t Here, I’d Be Crying tour finishes with a concert at Melbourne’s Showgrounds tonight.

The shows come just nine months after his last Australian visit, supporting the Red Hot Chili Peppers on their Aussie stadium tour.
