WHILE an increasing number of festival-goers are tuning out of the big name festivals, boutique festivals around the country are struggling to keep up with the demand.

Smaller events like Festival Of The Sun - which is held annually in Port Macquarie on the NSW Mid-North Coast - are picking up the music lovers that bigger budget festivals have left behind.

Tired of sharing their turf with 60,000 other sweaty punters, festivals like FOTSUN have curbed attendance at 3,000 to give a more intimate and laidback vibe to the summer music experience.

The two-day Port Macquarie calendar highlight aims to provide a rare "Aussie backyard BBQ" vibe for you and other like-minded sun worshippers.

But while it may be smaller in size, the beachside festival won't be missing out on the big acts.

Chart-toppers Art Vs Science as well as Kiwi favourite Ladyhawke and Dan Sultan making the trip to the Sundowner Breakwall Tourist Park for the event.

FOTSUN is a BYO festival that will feature tunes from across the genres - roots, indie, rock, blues, acoustic and everything in between.

2010 sold out in record time, so make sure you'll got your finger on the pulse when tickets go on sale on September 1.
