Justin Bieber’s upcoming Australian tour dates to be postponed due to health issues

Justin Bieber’s Australian fans received an update overnight after the singer’s upcoming tour dates were pulled amid ongoing health issues.

Justin Bieber reveals shock diagnosis

Justin Bieber fans hoping to catch the megastar in Australia next month have been informed the shows will be officially postponed pending venue availability.

Months after going public with a concerning health diagnosis, the singer abruptly canned the remaining dates of his Justice world tour last month, but has announced overnight that the dates will be postponed.

On September 6th, the 28-year-old released a statement through TMZ citing his ongoing health issues as the reason behind the shock cancellation.

“Earlier this year, I went public about my battle with Ramsay Hunt syndrome, where my face was partly paralysed. As the result of this illness, I was not able to complete the North America leg of the Justice Tour,” he wrote.

“After resting and consulting with my doctors, family and team, I went to Europe in an effort to continue with the tour. I performed six live shows, but it took a real toll on me. This past weekend, I performed at Rock In Rio and I gave everything I have to the people in Brazil.”

He went on to say he was overcome with exhaustion after the show, and realised it was time to put his health first.

“I’m going to be OK, but I need time to rest and get better. I’ve been so proud to bring this show and our message of Justice to the world. Thank you for your prayers and support throughout all of this! I love you all passionately.”

Bieber’s tour, which was due to begin in 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, kicked off in February of this year in San Diego, California and made stops in 10 countries across three continents.

He was due to kick off his Australian dates in Perth on November 22, with fans instructed to await further news on dates, venues and cities.

All tickets will remain valid for the new dates.

The Sorry hit maker revealed his battle with Ramsay Hunt in June, sharing a concerning video which saw his face completely paralysed on one side.

“As you can see this eye is not blinking,” Justin shared while pointing to his right eye.

He continued: “This nostril will not move … so there’s full paralysis on this side of my face.”

“This is pretty serious as you can see,” the entertainer said after acknowledging that his fans were left “frustrated” by the “cancellation of shows.”

Ramsay Hunt syndrome is a rare neurological disorder characterised by facial palsy, or paralysis, often accompanied by a rash affecting the ear or mouth. According to the National Organization for Rare Disorders, an estimated five out of every 100,000 people in the US will develop RHS annually.

The syndrome, first described in 1907 by Dr. James Ramsay Hunt, is caused by an infection of the varicella-zoster virus — the same one that causes chickenpox and shingles, which means anyone who has suffered either of those illnesses could also come down with RHS.
