THERE are going to be some pretty anxious Stone Roses fans in Australia with the iconic rockers announcing just three shows at the Sydney Opera House in December.

The venue has scored a coup securing the only shows by the band who pioneered the Madchester music movement in the late 1980s and early ’90s with their swirling atmospheric hits including Fool’s Gold and I Wanna Be Adored.

After disbanding two decades ago, the quartet reunited in 2011 and played Australia in 2013 as one of the headlining acts for the Future Music Festival.

They released their first new music in 21 years a few months ago, issuing new singles All For One and Beautiful Things.

The band will perform in-the-round at the Opera House from December 12 to 14 with tickets going on sale on Friday. You can register for the pre-sale via sydneyoperahouse.com.

“These Opera House performances will be the band’s only Australian dates on what is already a historic tour. These may be the most intimate shows you’ll ever have a chance to see them play,” said the venue’s Head of Contemporary Music, Ben Marshall.
