Ed Sheeran’s touring income goes from $356,000 to $3 a day

Ed Sheeran was once earning $356,000 a day from live shows, but that income stream has now plummeted to just a few dollars.

Ed Sheeran reveals Covid struggle

During his record-breaking touring days, Ed Sheeran was pocketing AU$356,000 a day from live shows.

But it’s fair to say that particular income stream has taken a pretty steep nose dive — with the singer songwriter now picking up just AU$3 a day, reports The Sun.

A source said: “Ed’s accounts for his company Hayagotatourboi Touring make for funny reading.

“He has absolutely raked it in from his tours and in the past three years the firm has made more than £250 million ($A460 million).

“Ed made so much cash it worked out at him earning £192,000 ($A356,000) a day.

“But now he’s taken a break he’s living a little more like us, with a daily income of £1.62 ($A3).”

Ed’s Divide tour in 2019 was the highest grossing of all time, with him earning £587 million ($A1.1 billion) after selling 8.9 million tickets across six continents.

But he then decided to step back from playing for his millions of fans to work on his No1 album Equals.

The Thinking Out Loud singer’s account from touring for the 12 months to the end of March 2020 held £70 million ($A130 million). Twelve months later that same account had £591 ($A1100) in it.

The insider added: “Taking a break from music in 2019 and working on Equals is the reason the cash flow in the account has dropped down.

“Ed will go back out on the road next year with his + – = ÷ x tour, and given it will have been three years since his last tour, it’s likely he’ll make even more cash than before.”

As long as this pandemic doesn’t put paid to any of the dates, Ed should be just fine.

He is preparing to play a mammoth number of shows across the UK and Ireland.

The demand for tickets saw him adding extra dates, with Ed booking in to play a huge five nights at Wembley arena, alongside three additional shows in the Irish Republic and others in Belfast, Cardiff, Sunderland and Manchester.

Ed kicks off his Mathematics tour in Cork on April 28 next year and will play across the UK before he heads to Europe in July.

He will remain on the road until late September, finishing the European leg with three back-to-back nights in Germany.

If Ed doesn’t beat his takings from his Divide tour, I would be amazed.
