Ed Sheeran stuns crowd at Sydney’s Accor Stadium with touching show of support
Proving yet again he’s one of the greatest blokes in showbiz, Ed Sheeran took to the stage for his Sydney concert last night with a heartwarming gesture.
Ed Sheeran took 85,000 Sydney fans into his loving arms last night – and not just with his chart-topping set.
The British megastar, 32, performed the second of his sold-out shows as part of his ‘Mathematics’ world tour at Accor Stadium in Olympic Park Saturday night, with euphoric scenes showing fireworks blast across the arena as he belted out his beloved hits.
Showing he is a firm ally for diversity and inclusion, the Perfect singer wore a pride flag draped around his shoulders as WorldPride celebrations take over the city.
While singing You Need Me, I don’t Need You, Sheeran ran across the stage waving the flag, which was given to him by a member of the crowd.
Sheeran also wore a black T-shirt emblazoned with the indigenous flag with the words ‘Always was, always will be’, in a nod to the traditional custodians of the land.

The Grammy-winning superstar has won hearts across the country with his humble acts while touring down under.
After visiting the Queensland Children’s Hospital last weekend during the Brisbane leg of his tour, he paid another visit to the Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick before his concert last night.
He performed an intimate, acoustic set for sick children at the hospital, where he was seen playing his guitar and singing some of his biggest hits.
Despite his status, Sheeran was also spotted flying on a commercial flight from Ballina to Sydney last week after enjoying a weekend off in Byron Bay with his wife Cherry Seaborn and their two children.
Passengers got quite the surprise when they spotted the A-lister on-board a Virgin aircraft, with musicians of his calibre generally take the private jet route between states while touring.
Sheeran is next set to hit the stage for back-to-back shows at Melbourne Cricket Ground next Thursday and Friday, before wrapping his Aussie tour with shows at Adelaide Oval on March 7, and Optus Stadium in Perth on March 12.
Meanwhile, fellow British singer Harry Styles is also embarking on his Australian tour, and will hit Carrara Stadium on the Gold Coast on Tuesday night.
He’ll then head to Sydney for sold-out shows on Friday and Saturday night at Accor Stadium.
