Coldplay announce four new Australian tour dates after sold-out Perth shows

The British band has shared the news Aussie fans have been waiting for, after performing two sold-out shows in Perth.

Coldplay’s Perth concerts expected to inject millions into WA economy

Just hours after wrapping up two showstopping performances in Western Australia, Coldplay have delivered the news Aussie fans have been waiting to hear.

The hugely popular British band will be bringing their Music Of The Spheres World Tour back to Australia next year, with four new dates booked in.

News.com.au’s Joshua Haigh was in attendance at the first of Coldplay’s two Perth shows on Saturday night - and called it “a masterclass in showmanship from both Martin and his bandmates... the rest of Australia can only pray that they decide to return soon because their concert is not one to be missed.”

Well, we’re in luck: Coldplay will perform on October 30 and 31 at Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium, before heading to Sydney’s Accor Stadium on November 6 and 7.

In the announcement shared by Live Nation on Monday, fans were invited to register at Coldplay’s official website for access to the ticket presale, which will begin at 10am AEDT on Wednesday, November 29.

General ticket sales open up on Friday, December 1.

Coldplay have already seen enormous success with their latest tour, although they faced backlash back in May when it was announced they’d be playing a single stop in Australia – and it would be happening in one of the world’s most remote cities, Perth.

It marked Coldplay’s first performances in Australia since December 2016, when the Chris Martin-led group played five stadium dates across Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

News of the WA decision sparked outrage from east coast fans, who took to social media to complain about the snub.

It now appears all those entries into the complaint box may have had an effect.

Coldplay’s next run of Aussie shows will feature support acts PinkPantheress and Emmanuel Kelly.
