A popular British band has cancelled its Australian tour just hours before they were due to go onstage in Sydney.

Catfish and The Bottlemen cancelled the remainder of their Australian leg with just hours to spare, disappointing thousands of fans in the process.

It came just days after the group cancelled their gig in Dublin, Ireland, last Sunday with just 10 minutes before they were due to hit the stage.

A statement from LiveNation says the band were forced to cancel the remainder of their Australian shows “on doctors orders”.

“Catfish and The Bottlemen want to thank the fans for their support,” a statement sent to ticket holders from Frontier Touring said.

“This weekend they were hoping to still be able to perform but on doctor’s orders, they were forced to cancel their show in Dublin.

“Due to band illness, the Australian dates this month will also no longer be going ahead.

“The band were really looking forward to these shows and sincerely apologise to everyone for any inconvenience and disappointment. Thank you for your understanding and continued support.”

It seems like US fans of the band are also set for disappointment, with some US starting to receive notifications informing them their shows starting in October have also been axed – suggesting an abrupt end to the band’s comeback tour.

Catfish and The Bottlemen formed in 2007 but didn’t fully break out until 2013 with the release of their first single, Homesick.

Following the release of three albums, the group announced a hiatus in 2021 after

guitarist Johnny Bond claimed the band was “dysfunctional”.

The band had been due to play an extensive list of dates in Australia including, Sydney, Melbourne, Newcastle, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.

The reunited band currently consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Van McCann and bassist and backing vocalist Benji Blakeway.

Drummer Bob Hall and guitarist Johnny Bond quick the group back in 2021 just months after the band cancelled numerous gigs due to “practical issues”.
