Aussie singer Shannon Noll threatens violence in foul-mouthed rant during regional gig

AUSSIE singer Shannon Noll has apologised for this foul-mouthed rant and explained why he threatened to punch an audience member.

THIS is not Shannon Noll’s finest moment on stage.

Footage has emerged of the Aussie singer barking insults at a fan in the crowd at the Duck Creek Picnic Races in the regional NSW town of Nyngan.

Now Noll has issued an apology and explained why he made the threats against the audience member.

The former Australian Idol runner-up unleashed the expletive-laden rant after a beer can was tossed on stage at the racetrack on Saturday night.

“Whoever threw that, come up here,” he said to the crowd.

“Come on then, that f***head in the tie. You’re a f***ing maggot. Have some f***ing balls to come up here ... cheapshot prick.

“Shame that motherf***er right there. F***ing private school stupid f***head motherf***er. Have some balls and get up here and I’ll punch your f***ing teeth down your throat ... then I’ll f*** your missus and your mum.

“Let’s everybody else, apart from that f***stick, sing along to that song, ok, here we go. I’ll give someone $100 bucks to punch that f*** for me.

“Enough with the haters, f*** the haters. There’s too many good looking girls here.”

The man did not take up Noll’s offer to continue the conversation on stage.

The singer took to Facebook on Sunday night to apologise for the incident, explaining that he had been “rattled.”

“I would like to apologise for my behaviour and language at Saturday night’s Duck Creek Picnic Races,” Noll posted.

“During our set there were people in the audience throwing cans and bottles at the stage and after one guy threw a full can, just missing my head it really rattled me.

“We had a similar issue last year with a firecracker thrown onto the stage and one of my band members was seriously hurt … you don’t have a lot of deep vision into the crowd from the stage and it’s pretty scary to see something suddenly flying straight at you.

“We’re just doing our job and these actions are not acceptable.

“I completely understand that that is still no excuse for the way I spoke and I am deeply sorry for the terrible things I said that were purely out of frustration.”

Video of the incident was shared thousands of times on social media. It began as Noll prepared to sing Horses by Rickie Lee Jones and later covered by Daryl Braithwaite.

However, many people weren’t keen to forgive and forget so easily, and criticised the singer for his outburst in the comments section.

One user wrote: “At first I was thinking fair enough - then get to the bit about the misses and the mum - um - yeah - wow #overboard.”

“Wow, how proud has he just made his wife children and his parents. SHAME ON YOU SHANNON!!!!!!! be the bigger man, laugh it off, and move on,” another wrote.

One former fan pointed out that he should have had security deal with the situation.

“Wow that’s disgusting..... Shannon sank to that guys level with verbal abuse, should of (sic) got security to deal with him and have him removed!” they wrote.

“I actually liked Shannon but don’t think I’ll ever pay to see him after that display (he sounds like he must have been drinking himself with that behaviour, great example to his children!!) ..... Disappointed.”

Another wrote that he had been “inciting violence.”

“To offer to pay someone $100 to punch the dude was inciting violence... There’s no need to retaliate the way he did and to throw in the comments about his wife and mother was just disgusting. So tasteless and uncalled for. So much for bettering yourself Shannon...you’ve got a long long way to go before you will be a decent guy and someone your kids will look up to. Shameful behaviour,” they said.

It’s not the first time Noll has made headlines for the wrong reason. He was arrested after a scuffle with a bouncer at the Crazy Horse Revue strip club on Hindley Street in the Adelaide CBD last January but assault charges were eventually dropped.

Tickets to Noll’s show on Saturday sold for $30. He took the stage at 8pm shortly before the confrontation with a member of the crowd.
