Actor and musician Donald Glover is returning to Australia as Childish Gambino, touring his surprise release album Atavista.

Supported by US talent Amaarae across the tour, Glover will arrive in New Zealand for an Auckland Show at the Spark Arena on January 28.

He will go on to play in four Australian cities — Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.

On February 1, The New World Tour will open in Australia at Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

The Sydney leg of the tour will be at Qudos Bank Arena on February 4, followed by Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena on February 7, and RAC Arena in Perth on February 11.

The tour could be the last Childish Gambino outing in Australia, after Glover last month announced he had two projects left in his musical career.

Childish Gambino will tour Australia for the first time since 2019 with The New World Tour.

The first is the release of Atavista, an adaptation of his Pandemic album 3.15.20 which dropped as a surprise on Monday night, and the second being the soundtrack to Glover’s upcoming feature Bando Stone & the New World.

Atavista consists of eleven tracks with a 50 minute runtime. Two are original productions while the remained reimagine tracks from 3.15.20.

Also released was a music video for Little Foot Big Foot, directed by Glover’s frequent collaborator Hiro Murai. The track is a collaboration with Young Nudy.

Those looking to snatch up tickets will first have a chance next Thursday through an American Express presale beginning 9am in Sydney and Brisbane, 10am in Perth, and 12pm in Melbourne and Auckland, all in local times.

This will be followed by a pre-sale on the tour website later that day, and a presale for members with Frontier Touring on May 17. Tickets will be open to all on May 20.

Atavista is Glover’s fifth album. He had his acting breakout with TV comedy Community. He is also the creator and star of cult hit TV series Atlanta.
