Adele forced to cancel her final two shows after damaging her vocal chords

THE British powerhouse has expressed her heartbreak over having to cancel the final two shows of her world tour after damaging her vocal chords.

Adele may never go on tour ever again

ADELE has taken to Instagram to express her heartbreak over having to cancel her final two shows after coming so close to finishing her mammoth world tour of 123 performances.

The British powerhouse posted a lengthy letter on Instagram saying she was “so sorry” and “devastated” and asked her fans to “please forgive” her.

“The last two nights at Wembley have been the biggest and best shows of my life,” she wrote.

“To come home to such a response after so long away doing something I never thought I could pull off but did has blown me away. However, I’ve struggled vocally both nights. I had to push a lot harder than I normally do,” she continued.

The 29-year-old singer revealed she headed to the doctor who told her she’d damaged her vocal chords.

Adele’s letter admitted she tried everything to finish her huge world tour that has seen her play 121 shows for fans all around the world.

“I’m already maxed out on steroids and aids for my voice,” she wrote, even admitting she’d considered miming but “cannot in a million years do that to you”.

The final two Wembley shows were supposed to happen on July 1 and July 2 at Wembley Stadium where she was expected to perform for close to 100,000 people. It would also be her 122nd and 123rd shows — a record-breaking feat on a tour that has already broken records in almost all the cities she’s played in.

Adele’s devastation over having to cancel shows because of her vocal chords isn’t the first time the singer has had issues with her throat.

She was forced to cancel two tours in October, 2011 because of a vocal chord haemorrhage and had surgery a month later to remove polyps in her throat.

After her throat microsurgery, she made her comeback at the 2012 Grammys in February where she performed live and whom all six categories her album 21 was nominated in.

Adele started her world tour in the UK on February 29, 2016.

The cancellation of her final two shows comes less than a day after her she decided to hang up her touring boots and take a break from the road — perhaps permanently.

Adele used her tradition of writing a handwritten note for one lucky concertgoer to reveal the news writing, “So this is it. After 15 months on the road and 18 months of 25 we’re at the end”.

“I’ve done 119 shows and these last four will take me up to 123, it has been hard out an absolute thrill and pleasure to have done.

“I only ever did this tour for you and to hopefully have an impact on you the way that some of my favourite artists have had on me live.

“And I wanted my final shows to be in London because I don’t know if I’ll ever tour again and so I want my last time to be at home.

“Thank you for coming, for all of your ridiculous love and kindness. I will remember all of this for the rest of my life. Love you. Goodnight for now.”
