The Districts to embark on their first Australian tour, first stop — Splendour In The Grass

WHAT better way to kick off your first Australian tour than at Splendour In The Grass. Pennsylvanian rock band, The Districts then head to Newtown for an intimate show.

THE Districts are a four-piece Pennsylvanian rock band who have taken their live show to an envious list of international festivals including SXSW, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits.

Now, the boys will head to Australia for the first time, where they will hit up one of the most popular festivals, Splendour In The Grass.

Two days after that, they will treat inner west fans to their own headline show at Newtown Social Club.

“We’re super pumped about coming out to Australia. We heard it’s really hot there and there’s lots of animals that can kill us,” bass player Connor Jacobus said, ­laughing.

The boys have built a solid and loyal following, with more than 24,000 Facebook followers who trace their every move.

It all started back in 2009 when they were still in high school, jamming in their basements.

“We would mainly go to Robbie’s and just practise after school,” ­Jacobus said.

Since then they have gone on to release two EPs and two LPs, their most recent one, A Flourish and a Spoil, was released earlier this year.

“It is a lot more heavy than the previous albums, it’s got a darker sound,” Jacobus said.
