With arguably one of the most diehard fanbases in the world, it’s no surprise #MidnightsTaylorSwift began trending on Twitter amid buzz over the trailer.

Upon the album’s official release at 3pm AEDT, Swift marked the moment with a personal note to her supporters, saying, “Midnights is a collage of intensity, highs and lows and ebbs and flows. Life can be dark, starry, cloudy, terrifying, electrifying, hot, cold, romantic or lonely. Just like Midnights. Which is out now.”

Swift wowed fans at the MTV Video Music Awards in August when she announced the impending release of Midnights after winning Video of the Year.

Taking to social media shortly afterwards, Swift wrote that Midnights would feature 13 songs that will tell stories of “13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life.”

Swift has been busy re-recording her past albums in recent years, but hasn’t released brand new music since evermore in late 2020.

While it’s safe to say Swift has been busy with the release of Midnights and its visual elements, the multi-Grammy winner is also reportedly planning a massive stadium tour for the album in the summer of 2023.

“Taylor has some really ambitious plans in place,” one insider told Page Six.

“She’s excited to get back on the road after such a long but fruitful break.”

Swift was due to go on tour in 2020 in support of her seventh studio album, Lover, but she was forced to cancel the dates once Covid-19 swept the world.

“This is an unprecedented pandemic that has changed everyone’s plans and no one knows what the touring landscape is going to look like in the near future,” she tweeted at the time.

Swift last toured the world in 2018 to promote her sixth album, Reputation. It was the highest-grossing tour of all time, and the Texas stop was filmed for a concert special that premiered on Netflix later that year.

The global tour netted the star a reported $550 million.
