Tanabe Miku beats Yumoto Ami in one of the greatest battles of rock, paper, scissors of all time
NOT all heroes wear capes, as this woman proved in the greatest battle of rock, paper, scissors of all time that gives new meaning to the word pressure.
NOT all heroes wear capes, and not all battles are large-scale.
So proved these two Japanese women in a video of their intense battle of rock, paper, scissors for a starring role in the latest single from pop group AKB48.
The largest pop group in the world has a rotating membership and uses Janken — as the game is known in Japan — to choose who will be the face of their latest song. HBO take note, the suspense in this televised showdown filmed in October is up there with anything you’ve seen on Game of Thrones.
It begins with a stadium-style arena filled with pop fans and the lone contestants Tanabe Miku and Yumoto Ami standing on a stage in the middle. First, a close-up of the competitors and a sportsman like fistbump.
Then, without any messing around or third-bounce throwdown the referee hollers: “JANKEN BOOM”.
Tanabe Miku takes it out with rock, and her reaction is the best thing you’ll see on the internet this week.

Naturally the stadium went into meltdown and the internet became obsessed with reliving their own glory days and dredging up old battles.
@iamjoonlee it is amazing. Haven't seen passion like that over a RPS match since I won shotgun from my brother back in 98

@iamjoonlee @vnnbrg I admire any culture that can elevate the prosaic game of âRock-Paper-Scissorsâ to World Wrestling Federation stature.
