SZA confirms Brazilian butt lift amid plastic surgery speculation
Popular singer SZA has finally confirmed she underwent a major procedure, months after hinting at it in several of her hit songs.
American singer SZA has confirmed speculation that she’s had recent plastic surgery, explaining that she went under the knife out of self-love and without feeling any “pressure” from her industry.
The 33-year-old Kill Bill singer opened up about her “Brazilian butt lift” - or BBL - in a new interview with US Elle magazine, declaring her decision was made after some self-reflection.
“I treat my butt like a purse; it’s just there to enhance whatever else,” she told the magazine. “And that’s why I paid for it, because it works all by itself.”
BBL is the colloquial term for buttock fat grafting, an elective cosmetic procedure which can cost up to $14,000 and involves removing fat from one part of the body via liposuction and transplanting it via injection into the butt for a fuller, perkier effect.
SZA – real name Solána Imani Rowe – added: “I always wanted a really fat a**e with less gym time. I didn’t succumb to industry pressure. I succumbed to my own eyes in the mirror and being like, ‘No, I need some more a**e.’”
SZA had first hinted to fans that she’d undergone surgery to achieve her impressive figure through the lyrics of her song SOS, which was released last December.
In it, SZA sings: “So classic, that a**e so fat, it look natural, but it’s not.”
Another song, Conceited, also suggested to the singer having had surgery: “I just got my body done, ain’t got no guilt about it, I just heard your opinion, I could’ve did without it.”
SZA addressed the provocative lyrics in her interview with Elle, explaining that she has a “deep desire to shut everyone up”.
“That’s some Jersey s**t. You know what I’m saying? When I feel like I have too much to say and I don’t want to say it cute,” she said.
“I have a deep desire to shut everyone up and that probably comes from high school and all that type of s**t. My mom always told me that I’ve always been the kind of person where people either really f**k with me or they just don’t like me at all.”
