Splendour in the Grass 2013

THE festival business is picking up again with Splendour In The Grass selling out in under an hour today.

The winter three-dayer, which moves to its new purpose-built camping grounds at the North Byron Parklands in July, will host more than 75 bands in front of 25,000 fans from July 26.

Promoters Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco spent five years battling local opposition to expand their popular alternative festival and stage it at the property they have developed 15 minutes north of Byron Bay.

While demand slowed the event's ticketing system this morning, all one-day, three-day and camping tickets sold out in less than an hour.

Fans from around Australia immediately hit Gumtree and eBay, posting desperate bids to buy one of the coveted tickets.

This year's main attractions include The National, Frank Ocean, the return of Powderfinger frontman Bernard Fanning and You Am I reprising their debut album Sound As Ever.
