Melanie Chisholm, aka Sporty Spice, is heading to Melbourne in November to DJ a set at the Melbourne Cup Carnival.

The trip will mark the 49-year-old singer’s first appearance in Australia in 25 years – she was last here with her girl group, the Spice Girls, back in 1998.

Victoria Racing Club (VRC) announced Monday that Chisholm will headline the carnival’s newest festival-inspired entertainment, Palooza, during TAB Champion Stakes Day on November 5 in Flemington.

“It’s so good to be coming back to Australia. The atmosphere there is electric and I could not be happier to return after more than two decades,” she said in a statement.

“I’ve always been a big fan of racing and obviously love a music festival so to mix the two and perform at such an iconic Australian event is so exciting. I can’t wait!”

Then, on November 12, she will board the Oasis in Brisbane to DJ its popular Club Paradiso Sunday session.

After gaining worldwide fame with the Spice Girls, Chisholm embarked on a solo career in 2000 when the band went on an indefinite hiatus.

She experienced success with 14 number-one UK singles, including I Turn to You, When You’re Gone andNever Be the Same Again, a collaboration with late TLC star Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes.

It wasn’t until a couple of years ago that Chisholm focused her talents on DJ-ing. She has since become an in-demand DJ, playing gigs at Glastonbury in the UK and on the party island of Ibiza.
