Pussycat Dolls reunion implodes as founder sues Nicole Scherzinger

The Pussycat Dolls were poised to take on the world again - now, Nicole Scherzinger is being sued by the group’s founder amid startling allegations.

Nicole Scherzinger is being sued by The Pussycat Dolls‘ founder over allegedly backing out of the group’s reunion unless she is given “complete creative control”.

Choreographer Robin Antin is claiming the singer agreed to going on a world tour with the reunited group - also made up of Ashley Roberts, Kimberly Wyatt, Carmit Bachar and Jessica Sutta - before coronavirus hit last year.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, legal documents allege the pair made a deal in 2019 with Nicole accepting a 49 per cent cut.

Robin now claims Nicole, 43, has changed her mind and is asking for majority control and 75 per cent ownership of the business venture.

The documents state she “now refuses to participate in the tour,” and has “demanded to renegotiate the terms of the MOU” while asking for majority control.

Because tour dates now can’t be confirmed, touring agent Live Nation is also said to be demanding $US600,000 (AUD$806,000) that it invested into the tour.

It comes amid rumours Nicole was plotting to go solo once again, although sources close to The Sun said she is entirely committed to the group.

The group made headlines with the racy looks in their comeback music video, React.

A source said: “The pandemic has hampered plans for The Pussycat Dolls but as far as they are concerned, they‘re all raring to get going as soon as it’s safe to do so.

“Nicole had considered doing some solo music last year and wrote a series of songs including a track about social distancing called Anti-Party Anthem.

“That one was a fun nod to lockdown life, which she wrote when the pandemic had just started but she decided not to put it out a short while later. The time has passed and she has no plans right now to do anything as a solo artist.

“All her focus is on The Pussycat Dolls at the moment.”

In January they were on the brink of signing a major new management deal to secure their long-term future and were on course to release new music following the success of their comeback hit React last year.

In total, they sold 55 million records and had two No1 tunes during their careers.

They first announced their reunion in November 2019 after a decade apart, including a world tour with dates in Australia as part of the So Pop! Festival - which was torpedoed when Covid hit.
