SINGER Prince has been released from an Illinois hospital after he was hospitalised with the flu following an emergency plane landing, celebrity news outlet TMZ reports.
A representative for the singer told TMZ that Prince had performed in Atlanta on Thursday despite not feeling well from the flu.
He felt worse after boarding a plane following his concert, and the plane was diverted to Moline, Illinois, where he was treated for ‘bad dehydration’.
TMZ reported the singer had been battling the flu for several weeks, cancelling two shows on April 7, but wanted to appear in Atlanta despite not feeling well.
Prince, born Prince Rogers Nelson in 1958, is one of the most successful recording artists in music history, with a career spanning three decades.
He shot to stardom and worldwide fame after the release of Purple Rain in 1984, which sold more than 13 million copies and spent 24 weeks at No 1 on the US charts.
Popular songs from the album include ‘When Doves Cry’ and ‘Let’s go Crazy’, both with reached No 1 on the singles billboard.
