Pitbull and Ke$ha Australian tour cancelled due to 'poor sales'

RAPPER Pitbull and Ke$ha have cancelled their Australian tour weeks before it was due, reportedly due to low sales.

THE party has abruptly stopped for Pitbull and Ke$ha fans with their joint Australian tour cancelled - just weeks before it was due to start.

The rapper, known as Mr Worldwide, is suddenly not quite so global, telling Facebook fans today "Regrettably the promoter is cancelling the Australian tour, refunds will be available at point of purchase. We hope to return to Australia in the not too distant future."

Promoter Paul Dainty confirmed the cancellation on his website, however no excuse has been cited, not even the usual "scheduling conflicts".

Sources say the tour, which was due to play arenas, was selling way below expectations.

Ironically Pitbull and Ke$ha's new collaboration, Timber, is No. 18 on Australian iTunes today after being released this week.

Pitbull's Facebook page may offer some explanation about why the tour was so unpopular, given his strong track record touring Australia in the past with the likes of Enrique Iglesias.

Fan Magda Ostrowska wrote "I like Pitbull. why would he even associate with trash like Kesha. His concerts are awesome. but on principal I wouldn't pay a cent if she is involved.."

Alejandra Quinones wrote "I wanted to go but the thought of Kesha put me off purchasing tickets, lucky I saw him when he was here last year."

Kym Ozols noted "Faith in humanity has been restored."

Ke$ha's popularity has plummeted globally over the last two years.

Her album Warrior has yet to achieve gold status in Australia, with her most recent single Crazy Kids peaking at No. 32.

Her first album, Animal, made No. 4 in Australia in 2010, going double platinum.

The tour was due to start in Brisbane on October 30, before shows in Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

Those who bought tickets can get refunds at point of purchase.

It is also another in an increasingly long line of Australian tours by hip hop acts to be suddenly cancelled this year, with urban fans still waiting for an update on the troubled Supafest, which was postponed earlier this year.
