NICK Cave has threatened to reignite rock'n'roll mayhem with his old buddy Iggy Pop at this year's Big Day Out festivals.
Renowned for their past excesses, the pair enjoyed a debauched few weeks aboard the first Big Day Out tour of Australia in 1993.
Back then Cave was fronting his band The Bad Seeds while Iggy Pop was performing solo in the years before he reunited The Stooges.
Almost two decades on, Iggy & The Stooges will headline Big Day Out with Cave introducing his latest garage rock act Grinderman featuring fellow Bad Seed members Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey and Jim Sclavunos.
"Iggy was there at the first Big Day Out we played so it's quite strange we're on the same bill," Cave said.
"We're not best friends or anything but I know him and if it's anything like the last one we'll be hanging out.
"The last Big Day Out was a time of personal and collective chaos which we hope to repeat this time."
