John Farnham hits the rock festival circuit on the all Australian Red Hot Summer Tour next year

Are you ready to rock — standing up — with John Farnham? He’s hitting the festival circuit.

JOHN FARNHAM, Daryl Braithwaite and James Reyne will headline a very Aussie summer rock festival next year.

The Red Hot Summer Tour, which will tour Australia between January and March, also features Shannon Noll and Taxiride on the bill.

Farnham headlined last year’s One Electric Day all Australian event in Victoria; also staged by Red Hot Summer Tour promoter Duane McDonald.

“John loved being back in the rock and roll world,” McDonald said.

“We’ve seen him at arenas, so it’s great to see him playing to a rock crowd who are all on their feet. To get John Farnham into some of these regional towns, they’re going to go crazy.”

The tour starts at Mary Ann Reserve in South Australia on January 14 (with extra guest Ross Wilson), then Mornington Racecourse in Victoria on January 21 and North Gardens Ballarat on January 27. It moves to New South Wales for a show at Westport Park Port Macquarie on February 4, Sandstone Point Hotel in Bribie Island Queensland on February 25, Lazy River Estate in Dubbo on March 4 and Kiama Showground on March 18.

“The difference between playing regional shows and city shows is huge,” McDonald says. “It’s a whole different crowd, they’re not spoiled for entertainment like people in the city.”

In a sign of how strong all Australian line-ups are, McDonald has already announced a separate Red Hot Summer tour, headlined by Icehouse, which is also selling strongly.

“It’s great that the Aussies can match the internationals,” he said.
